BEATTYJames and Jemima (nee Yates)1845Campbell TownNSWAUTheir son Theophilus Stuart was baptised in Campbell Town on 1/7/1845 and I am keen to find out what they were doing in the area at that time. Jemima was the daughter of a Wesleyan minister (in England) and I am confident that the child would have been baptised in the Wesleyan faith. The birth of Theophilus was registered in Pitt Town and I wonder if that was the government centre at that time?

I have been in touch with his gt. grandson Ray W. Jenkins. I would be interested to correspond with any other descendants of either brother. COLLINSEdmund (Ned)1844 to 1851CampbelltownNSWAUSI am trying to track down the existence of a bakery in Campbelltown between 1844 and 1851. Our ancestor Edmund, known in town as Ned Collins, baker, lived with his wife Catherine and their children in Campbelltown in that period. Ned left with William Bursill for the Goldfields in May 1851.

ƒ??The party included Ned Collins, Jack Haray, William Williams, Bursill snr, Wm Bursill and a lad of 15 years to mind camp and cook.ƒ? William A. Bayley, History of Campbelltown NSW.

We have a mystery in that we have no idea how Ned, who was a convict, came to move from Wollongong to Campbelltown and take up work as a baker, which was his apprenticeship when he was convicted for highway robbery and sentenced to 14 years transportation. He received his Ticket of leave in 1844 and was permitted to move to Campbelltown but we cannot find a reason why.

CONNORHenryAbt 1825CamdenNSWAUSTRALIAI am looking for information about my GGrandfather, Henry Connor, born abt 1825-6, Camden, New South Wales. He lists his father as James Connor and mother as Elizabeth on his children's BC's. There does not appear to be any birth or baptismal record under his name. He first appears in offical recrods in Howlong, NSW, where he is a 'carrier' and appears to marry Elizabeth Atkins (born Essex, England) in Oct 1856 in Albury (no record can be found for this). They proceed to have a number of children and eventually Henry dies of lung disease in Albury Hosptial in 1867. I have spent hundreds of hours searching for clues for the early life of Henry. If anyone has even the tiniest clue I would appreciate it. There appears to be Connors in the Campbelltown area at the time, but I do have not links between my Henry and them, though it is possible there are links.

HERRINGWilliam Diogenes1838CampbelltownNSWAUSWilliam HERRING - Am researching my late husbands forebears and have learned he is connected to Tyson family through his g. g. grandmother Barbara Tyson daughter of William and Isabella (Coulson) Tyson. Barbara married Wm. Diogenes Herring at St. Peter's Campbelltown in 1838. He was a convict and I have much to learn about him and the Tyson family. My search for Wm Diogenes Herring is not helped by the fact that there was another convict Diogenes Herring. There are too many death registrations for William so need to find him some other way before I have lookups done. The marriage entry at St. Peter's gave no age or parents names. Wm. Diogenes was 26 when he arrived in Australia in 1834. Diogenes Herring was 17 when he arrived in 1829. Which one belongs to my husband's tree? Is anyone else researching this family?

KELLYMary Ann1856 - 1861CampbelltownNSWAUSIƒ??m trying to find information regarding my great grandmotherƒ??s family. She was Mary Ann Kelly who was born in Campbelltown sometime between 1856 and 1861. Confusion over the dates of her birth comes about as her death record states that she was 65 years of age when she died in 1926, meaning that she was born around 1861, yet her death certificate also says that she was a 20 year old bride when she married in 1876, therefore placing her year of birth to 1856.

She was a daughter of a John and Mary Ann Kelly, nee Kerasen. There is no record of their marriage in New South Wales, so I assume that they arrived as immigrants from Ireland. The family moved to the Bendenine Estate near Binalong at some time when that was opened to selectors (1860ƒ??s ƒ?? 1870ƒ??s?). My great-grandfather (Edward Cotter) also had a selection there, so I assume thatƒ??s where he met Mary Ann Kelly, they married in Yass.

NORTONJohn1856MenangleNSWAUSJohn NORTON - My ggf Irish convict John Norton married Jane Hancy (Hinchey) both of Menangle at Campbelltown in 1856. Their first child John (Naughton) was born at Menangle before the family moved to Moreton Park. This is the only information I can find about John Norton from the time of his discharge from Surveyor General's Dept in 1839 until his marriage in 1856. Would welcome advice from anyone with information about Menagle at that time.

STEPHENSONElizabeth1857CampbelltownNSWAUSElizabeth STEPHENSON - I have an interest in the old hotels around 1857 in Campbelltown. I have an ancestor Elizabeth Stephenson who married John Grego in Campbelltown. Elizabeth was a publican of one of the towns hotels. She was a widow when she married so the original lease may be in the first husbands name (name unknown). Does anyone have an interest in historical hotels?
